Should Christians be able to enjoy naturism?
I'm interested to know what any Christians on here think of this practise? Should Christians be allowed to partake in naturist and nudist activities, or should they reserve it for the shower and sunbaking in the back yard? Despite what some ultra conservative Christians believe, there is nowhere in the Bible where the practise or philosophy is condemned by God. There has been recent media interest in a Christian orientated nudist resort planning to open in Florida by a controversial Quaker minister. It begs the question: should Christians be associating themselves with naturists? Would you ever try it out for yourself to see what it is like in spite of what the RRR tells you?
As others have stated there is no biblical opposition to naturism. In fact the history of the Christian Church tends to support naturism and respect for the human body.
For several hundred years after Christ (experts differ), all baptisms were nude and communal (See Cyril and Tertullian among others).
Academic studies throughout the last century have concluded that naturism leads to better family stability. I was first introducted to it in a college sociology class and the professors report can be found in the links or encyclopedia of Natuist-Christians.org.
Look at Europe which is not so prudish as America. The most liberal countries regarding the human body have the lowest rate of teen pregnancies (Holland about 1/6 of the USA). Teens wait more than a year longer before engaging in sex - sex is demystified as decent sex is shown on television.
There is muchmore written on the subject that I can write. There are several Christian Naturist groups includng the largest worldwide Naturist-Christians.org which is also a free group.
